Due to an overwhelming demand by the industry to hire multi-licensed professionals, International Academy began the Spa Specialist Program. This unique program gives enhancement to the massage therapist in offering additional services within a spa not included within his/her Massage Therapy Licensure. These services can add valuable income for the licensed professional and allows the employer the opportunity to have one trained Spa Specialist instead of having the need to hire a massage therapist and an esthetician.
After completing the Massage Therapy Program, the student would enter phase two of the Spa Specialist Program which focuses on 310 hours of intense skin and spa training. Students will examine breakthrough research on the skin and all its elements including but not limited to structure and its functions, as well as the proper procedures behind the use of certain skin care treatments. The curriculum will also prepare students in the latest treatments of spa therapies, hydrotherapy, makeup-up application in addition to hair removal. Students will explore subjects such as understanding the skin, sterilization and sanitation, mask and spa therapy. Services that students will perform include facials, seaweed therapy, body wraps, exfoliating peels, relaxation treatments, stress recovery, waxing and massage of the neck and face. This course also includes training in paramedical facial treatments such as microdermabrasion, ultrasonic facials, and state of the art skin analysis.
Upon completion of both phases of the program, the student is prepared to pass the State authorized MBLEX Test, for Massage Therapy and then apply for their Florida Massage Therapy License, as well as, apply for and receive their licensure for Skin Care Hair Removal Specialist. (There is no State exam required for Skin Care and Hair Removal licensing)
