American Association of Cosmetology Schools

AACS is “America’s Voice in Hair, Skin, and Nail Education”

AACS was founded in 1924; we are a national non-profit association open to all privately owned schools of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences.

AACS specializes in updating our members with information about new teaching methods, current industry events, and Washington, DC updates. We do this through a series of seminars, conferences and conventions held throughout the year.

Most of all, AACS members act as a family, often helping each other with addressing problems facing beauty education. This “networking” is often listed as the most important benefit to membership.

For those schools that participate in Title IV funding, AACS lobbies Congress and the Department of Education aggressively to protect the interests of private career schools. AACS is your representative in Washington, DC.

Beauty Changes Lives

The American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) presented an inspiring, public event showcasing beauty’s power to change lives. Beauty Changes Lives convened icons in the beauty and wellness industry as well as beauty school students and school owners to share how a career in beauty changed their lives. Proceeds from the event benefitted the CUT IT OUT! domestic violence awareness initiative

Cut It Out

CUT IT OUT is a program of the Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund dedicated to mobilizing salon professionals and others to fight the epidemic of domestic abuse in communities across the United States.
