International Academy Begins Enrollment for New Barber Program

South Daytona, FL, December 14, 2010 – International Academy has received approval to begin its first barbering classes on January 4, 2011.  NACCAS, The National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences has given International Academy the approval to go forward with their new Barber Program. Over the thirty years that International Academy has been operating in South Daytona, requests for a Barber Program have been strong. “After researching employment statistics and job demand and determining a need for barbers in the area, we are finally making the program a reality,” said Mez Varol, International Academy founder and President.  “A Barbering curriculum, which is very similar to Cosmetology’s, has been highly requested by potential local and out of state students for quite a long time.” “Although we knew the demand for well trained barbers was there, we have been able to utilize our Cosmetology program to meet the needs of the salons looking to hire our graduates, but the time has come to bring back the old fashion service that only a barber can provide.”

With the new program, International Academy will be offering men’s barber services to the public. Clients will be able to come in for a haircut, hot shave and shoe shine for only $10.00. “We know clients will be lining up to utilize these great affordable services and we want plenty of clients for our new Barbering students to practice on. As with all of the programs offered at International Academy, all services are performed by students that are supervised by their highly trained instructors.   “We can not wait to put up our red and white barber pole,” Mez adds.

The Barber program will be offered only full time to begin with, which will allow the student to complete the program in as little as nine months. “This is a great opportunity for someone that has been unemployed or looking for a career change to complete school, receive their State licensure and be ready for employment in less than a year,” said Tracy Franchina, Admissions Director. “There are few career opportunities like that and we are looking forward to a great first class in January. Classes will begin every five weeks and we anticipate a part time evening schedule to begin mid 2011.

International Academy also offers quick employment track programs in Massage Therapy, Esthetics, Spa, Nail Technicians, and of course Cosmetology All programs, even if combined licensure programs such as Massage Therapy with Skin licensure, students can complete both programs in less than a year and be ready to enter the workforce.
